As a labor of love, she put her chef skills to work creating slimmed down versions of his favorite foods and posting them on her blog Domesticate ME!, where she received an overwhelming response from men and women alike. Now, in The Dude Diet, Serena shares more than 125 droolworthy recipes that prove that meals made with nutrient-dense whole foods can elicit the same extreme excitement and satisfaction associated with deep dish pizza or Chinese take-out. Better still, each recipe is 100% idiotproof and requires only easily accessible ingredients and kitchen tools, so that even the most culinarily challenged dudes will be able to pull them off.

Stovetop Parmesan-Ranch Popcorn (Serves 2-3)

The Goods:

11/2 teaspoons dried parsley

1 teaspoon onion powder

3/4 teaspoon garlic powder

3/4 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/4 teaspoon fine grain sea salt

1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

1 pinch cayenne pepper (optional)

4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, divided

1/2 cup popcorn kernels

1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese

 

Do It:

·      Place the dried parsley in a small bowl and rub between your fingers until it becomes a course powder. Add the remaining spices to the bowl and stir to combine.

·      Pour two tablespoons of olive oil into a large, deep pot and swirl to coat the bottom. Place the pot over medium heat, add 3 corn kernels, and cover with a lid. When all three kernels pop, remove the lid and add the rest of the kernels. Cover the pot, and give it a few shakes. Please make sure you hold the lid down while you shake it, dudes. I don’t want you to injure yourselves. Cook the popcorn, shaking the pot occasionally, until the popping sound stops, about 4-5 minutes.

·      Immediately pour the popcorn into a very large bowl. Drizzle with the remaining olive oil and toss with you hands. Add the Parmesan and toss again. Finally, add the spice mixture, and keep tossing until the popcorn is well coated with that dank ranch seasoning. Get your snack on.
